Portland was the latest city to host a performance of Voices of a People’s History of the United States, the primary-source companion to Howard Zinn’s best-selling A People’s History of the United States. The book features the words of rebels, dissenters and visionaries from our past — and present.
The Portland performance included readings by actor Viggo Mortensen, performance poet Staceyann Chin, singer Shontina Vernon, musician Eddie Vedder, poet and musician Trevino L. Brings Plenty, actor Michael Ealy, Portland student activist Sarah Levy, editor and author Anthony Arnove, and other actors and activists.
