Sneak Peak: Howard Zinn’s the People Speak at DNC in Denver, August 27, 2008

“The People Speak,” the forthcoming documentary film from historian Howard Zinn and producer Chris Moore, comes to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado, on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, as part of the SeaChange IdeasForum (http://www.seachangecom.com) at the Starz Green Room (http://www.starzgreenroom.com).
The event will open with a panel discussion on “The History of Progressive America, which will include clips from the documentary film “The People Speak,” followed by a live performance of readings drawn from the film, by actors and musicians Ben Affleck, Josh Brolin, Michael Ealy, Kerry Washington, and other special guests.

“The History of Progressive America”: Panel Discussion
We will take a sneak peek at segments of Producer Chris Moore’s film “The People Speak,” based on American historian and political scientist Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States,” a seminal account of the history of the United States through the eyes of those rarely heard in mainstream histories. The book turned traditional textbook history on its head, infusing the often-submerged voices of blacks, women, American Indians, war resisters, and poor laborers of all nationalities. A discussion of the film, in the context of the history of progressive America, will be followed by performances by several actors and musicians who participated in the film.
